Iraq bagged three points after a 2-1 win over Thailand in Asia’s final stage of World Cup qualifiers on Thursday.
Justin Meram gave the visitors ahead with his goal 34 minutes into the match but an own goal by Ahmad Ibrahim 24 minutes from time led the host back into the competition.
Tristan Do volleyed the ball and it was deflected into the net by the Iraqi player.
Iraq took the lead with a penalty kick by Saad Abdul-Amir after Chalempong Kerdkaew fouled Mohannad Abdul-Raheem in the box.
Thailand under coach Milovan Rajevac are still looking for their first victory in the contest.
Both sides are no longer in contention for places at Russia 2018 and only played for pride.
The War Elephants have never won a match at this stage of World Cup qualifiers.
