NEWARK — A Newark man died in an apparent suicide after being found in his Licking County Jail cell with a shirt tied around his neck several hours after his arrest Friday.
Brent Robinson, 30, was found on the floor at 10 p.m. and was transported to the Ohio State University‘s Wexner Medical Center, where he died.
An incident report notes an initial call to the Licking County Sheriff’s Office early Friday morning, with allegations of an assault by Robinson. He was taken into custody at 6:44 p.m. and transported to the Licking County Justice Center, according to the sheriff‘s office.
Robinson was charged in late 2014 with violating a protection order, a felony offense, according to court documents, which note subsequent probation violations. His arrest Friday was also for a probation violation, according to the sheriff’s office.
An investigation into Robinson‘s death is under way.
