Gov. John Kasich is correct to condemn politicians taking bribes in the form of campaign contributions from charter schools that they are supposed to be regulating. But what about the utility companies, payday lenders, National Rifle Association, casino owners, unions, frackers and on and on? They have all been writing and influencing laws in their favor by buying the votes of our supposed representatives since the rise of the political parties.
Why spend millions of dollars to get a job that pays a few thousand? Why has no one noticed that many leave office as millionaires, even the ones who did not start with much? Not standing for President Trump’s bragging might not be treason, but selling one‘s vote certainly rises to that level.
The main political parties have effectively locked out third parties and independents from ever winning an election.
