Letter: Phone city halls have benefits

As a senior citizen in Steve Stivers‘ 15th Congressional District, I respond to the Feb. 5 letter “It‘s kind of hard to pin down Stivers” from Leah Hackleman-Good.

I have found Stivers to be accessible. I have met with him in person to discuss Medicare and other important issues, as well as participate in his telephone town halls. I would like to share an alternate view regarding his telephone town halls vs. on-site town halls. I feel the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. They are:

• All constituents in his district are served through this medium.

• Extended access to those with small children, seniors, and those who could not attend a live town hall,

• Personal safety of constituents in a partisan-charged climate.

I encourage all to try at least one town hall and decide for themselves.
